The tour operator in a deluxe taxi will pick you up at your hotel, hostel or train station and guide you to three stops along the tour. Typically, you will see the Obiya, or management office, the stainer’s factory and the weaver’s factory. You will be able to talk to the craftspeople to ask about their processes. After the tour, your guide will return you to your place of pick up.

The state of the tour
During this unique tour, you will first visit an engraving shop established over 200 years ago. Here, you will see beautiful gold and silver products crafted in the store’s workshop.
After admiring the craftsmen’s work, you will then be taken into the workshop, where artisans use hand tools to fashion their gold and silver pieces.
A craftsperson will provide a detailed explanations of how various items are made. You will also craft your own silver pendant. From start to finish, you will learn the steps necessary to make the finished product, yours to keep. This is a great experience!

On the way back, the items of the store were shown variously.
Later, you will leave the shop and walk through Teramachi Nijo, a wonderful shopping area full of stores selling antique furniture, kimonos, tea, washi paper, hand-made brushes, and more.
